The University Library at the Southwestern University "Neofit Rilski" was established in 1976 with the opening of the Sofia University Branch in Blagoevgrad. The initial collection is 4,702 volumes - mainly specialized literature in the fields of pedagogy and psychology.
The fund, available to readers by 2025, consists of 212,073 library units. Its acquisition is carried out in accordance with the educational policy and development strategy of the South-West University "Neofit Rilski". New receipts are obtained through purchase, donations from individuals and legal entities, through the internal library book exchange with university libraries in the country, and subscription. Each received title is cataloged through the library information system "Automated Library" by entering bibliographic data in the various modules of the program. The fund summarizes traditional book media and other types of resources.
The library is a member of the Scientific Libraries Section of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BLIA), an associate member of the Bulgarian Information Consortium (BIC) and the National Academic Library and Information System (NALIS) Foundation.
